Phew!

Well, for those of you who may still make it to this blog...the wedding went perfectly! Everything really came together. A few cake plates fell apart... (I washed them a few days before which must have wet the glue...) but hey, if that's the biggest problem, I'm not complaining. Here are a few pics!

Jars

Well, it's almost that time. 2 weeks til the wedding! Hoping this April rain doesn't continue into May... So, today I found myself organizing all of my jars (sounds exciting, I know) which will be used in centerpieces...

I also have a lot of bottles..some old, some just meant to look old, that will also be used. We have yet to make the burlap table runners but those will be quick!

"Guest book"

Instead of having a guest book that we may not often flip through, we decided to have a poster for people to sign instead. I posted the free template earlier. I actually used my coke points to get it printed for free - they partner with Snapfish. Anyway, it arrived and it's framed and all ready to use! Complete with tea tin to hold the markers people will use to sign it. :)

Love is Sweet

I finally finished the banner for my dessert table (not like it was that hard).

It only looks kind of crazy because I took 3 different pictures and put them together. Another project to check off the list!

&

I'm preeetty excited, my fiance's dad is going to make us one of these signs:

It'll make lots of cute pics! Also, after the wedding we can definitely hang it up or display it somewhere. This one in the picture is actually from etsy . Very cute.

Honeymoon!

The flights have been booked! The weekend after the wedding we will be going to Paris, Torino, and Zurich! *Made completely possible by Bic's parents* We will fly into Paris early in the morning, spend the day, night, and most of the next day. Luckily my friend lives there right now and can give us some suggestions on where to stay and things to see :D Then, we will take the train (through the Alps!) to Torino, Italy where we will spend most of our time. Bic has a family friend who is letting us stay in his villa! Luckily, we will have a local to again give us some guidance on things to see before we take the train to spend one or two days in Zurich, Switzerland! All very exciting. I have never really been anywhere (I got my passport for this trip) so I am extremely excited about all three of these destinations! Hence all of the exclamation points...

Now let us all take a moment for some picturessss...

MAP OF OUR TRAVELS

PARIS

TORINO

ZURICH

Needless to say, it will be pretty depressing returning to Newport News!

First Dance

We pretty much have a song picked out for our first dance, but during the search I found a few that I really liked. Here they are!

Ray LaMontagne - You Are The Best Thing

Adele - Make You Feel My Love

and the one we agree upon most and will probably dance to...

Dave Matthews - You and Me

Comment if you have any other suggestions! These will all be on the wedding playlist.

Catering

I hope everyone loves Panera Bread! Not a typical wedding caterer, I know, but we figured it would fit in with the rest of our wedding. We didn't want to have anything too heavy since the wedding will be outside in May - with *hopefully* warm weather. I think that salads and sandwiches will be a great alternative to a carving station or pasta dish. So, get ready for tables full of greek, classic, and caesar salads, chips, pickles, baguettes, and sandwiches! An assortment of Bacon Turkey Bravo, Italian Combo, Asiago Roast Beef, Mediterranean Veggie, Ham and Swiss, and Napa Almond Chicken Salad to be exact. I am hoping this will be very kid friendly, as well. Not to mention less expensive and Panera will deliver and set everything up for us. :D

Addressing Invitations

Well, I am almost done addressing all of the invitations! Although, I still need to make sure each one has directions, etc. in it. Hopefully I'll get them all out in the next week! I did them by hand, so I apologize in advance if anyone's name or address is not completely centered :)

Rhubarb

So, I had no idea how hard envelopes were going to be to find. No luck at Office Max, Wal Mart, etc etc. Long story short - I ordered some rhubarb colored envelopes from Paper Source. Our invitations are about 5.5x7.5 so I just ordered their "outer envelopes". I won't need inner envelopes because I am asking people to RSVP to my cell or email address. The envelopes have shipped, so I'm hoping they will arrive in the next few days and I get get them sent out as soon as possible!

Finished Bird Nest

So, I finished Noel's "ird's nest" as she calls it. I always like to ask her if she remembers what she'll be carrying in my wedding - her answer is "ings" (rings, of course). I just added a bit of moss and took a few pics with my rings in it for now.

Woooord. Also, we got our invitations printed today. Just need the envelopes and I'll start addressing them. I'm also almost done with the groomsmen's boutonnieres. It's nice to keep crossing things off the list!

Dessert Table

I think I've put more time into making things for the dessert table than anything else for my wedding. Not sure how it happened that way, but I had to get these Anthropologie mugs to add to the mix. They only had certain letters left so they were on sale. I got four to spell out "x o x o" and will put candy in them.

So cute! I've also made about 5 different cake plates (I posted pics of one in an old post) and I have an old Coca Cola bottle crate I will most likely use on the dessert table. I also made a banner to hang in front/behind it that spells out "love is sweet" and then I have a few other boxes that looks like old chests. Now I just have to decide what kinds of desserts to fill them all with!

I'm hoping it turns out something like these pics:

Except better of course, but you get the idea! So far I'm thinking a few small cakes, cake pops, oreo pops, cookies, and candy...

Bridal Party

So, I gave each of my bridesmaids a color and they got to pick their own dress (I hate feeling uncomfortable, especially in a wedding, so I wanted to let everyone pick something that they would feel comfortable in). Anyway, each bridesmaid's dress will match her groomsman's tie and shoes. For example, this is my sister's dress:

and the best man, who she will be walking with, will have khakis, a white button up, and then these shoes and a tie made with this fabric:

(the closest colors to match)

I think it will end up looking pretty cool with the fuchsia/cranberry, orange, pink and yellow.

Banner Progress

Slightly awkward pictures, but these are what I will string across some tables and anywhere else I can fit them at the reception:

Yes, I made a bird nest

I was trying to think of an alternative to a ring pillow for Noel to carry down the aisle. I had seen a few cute ideas including a bird nest, so I decided to make one. I still have to put some fake moss or a piece of fabric in it to set the "rings" on, but the nest is done!

Just a whole lot of wrapping wire around itself...

People often also use this idea as a cake topper, which is cute:

My mom actually sewed me two little birds that I wanted to use as cake toppers - there is a free pattern online, but I printed it at maybe 70% so the birds would be smaller. You can find the pattern here :)

I'll post pictures of those when I can take some decent ones.

Wedding Bands

We've started looking into different wedding bands and might get something like this..

from Fabuluster on Etsy (woohoo, found out how to put in a link). Pretty cool, they put your fingerprints on them so I would have Bic's on mine and my fingerprint would be on his.

Definitely need to get to a store first and try some things on...sooner than later, but this is probably cooler than anything else we'll find!

Hair

So, of course there is a chance I will completely change my mind about what I want to do with my hair for the wedding, but for now this is what I'm looking into...

I can at least try to look like the movie stars! I really want my hair up so I don't get too hot, but at the same time I want it to be loose ..not slicked to my head and pulled back tightly in a bun. I'm really lucky to have my old friend Ryan doing my and my bridesmaids, etc hair. We're going to have a run through about a month before the wedding ..which will be here soon!
